Our ducks start their annual molt during September, and it's a period of massive changes. Old, worn feathers fall out and are replaced by new, denser winter plumage. This is energy-demanding for the animals, and they need extra good feed, clean bathing spots, and calm surroundings.
We also notice they become less active on pasture – they spend more time resting and preening their new feathers.
Yes, our ducks in Fjære use a lot of energy, but they also continue to do their part – and give us valuable animal welfare and joy!
