Bee's Final Sprint: Autumn When the Hives Prepare for Winter

Bee's Final Sprint: Autumn When the Hives Prepare for Winter
September is a critical month for bees. We observe their preparations for winter and discuss how we support them through this transition.

When the Hives Prepare for the Long Sleep

The bees work under high pressure in September. They must gather enough pollen and nectar to fill the honey combs before the flowers disappear and the plants settle into winter dormancy. It is an exciting and hectic time in the hives, and we follow the process closely.

During this period we also see that the queens' egg production changes pace – there are more worker bees and fewer drones that need to be fed through the winter.

Our Role in September's Work

Autumn's honey from Fjære is now at its best – rich flavor from the season's end!
