Rabbits' autumn activities: Free play, temperature and mental stimulation

Rabbits' autumn activities: Free play, temperature and mental stimulation
September provides perfect weather for rabbits to be active outdoors. We share ideas for making autumn exciting and healthy for your rabbits.

With mild weather and cool temperatures in September, your rabbits have ideal conditions for physical activity and mental stimulation. This is the time to make the most of the weather and keep them active and healthy.

Free play and movement

September temperatures – around 12-18 degrees – are perfect for rabbits. They don't get stressed by heat like in July-August. If you have the chance to let them loose in a secure area or a run, you're doing them a favor.

Environmental enrichment

Place hiding spots, tunnels and obstacles in the free play area. Rabbits love to explore and hide. You can create simple courses with sticks, chairs or natural materials like leaves and bark.

Nutrition for active rabbits

Active rabbits need good nutrition. Make sure they get plenty of hay, fresh greens and balanced commercial feed. Autumn is also a time when many wild plants become edible – clover, mugwort and other herbs that rabbits love.

Here at Den Lille Hagen i Fjære we know that happy rabbits are healthy rabbits – and September is the time to give them life and movement before the quieter autumn and winter months arrive.
