Here at Den Lille Hagen i Fjære, we notice that our rabbits become more active when the temperature drops. Those who may have been lounging around in July and August come back to life. But autumn also brings new challenges that we must take seriously.
Rabbits tolerate cold relatively well – much better than heat. But rapid fluctuations between warm and cold can be stressful and affect their immune system.
When the days get shorter, rabbits need a bit more fiber to keep warm from the inside. We gradually switch from summer's somewhat more 'freshness-based' feeding to high-quality hay and stable root vegetables.
Rabbits are robust animals, but they appreciate consistency. A stable autumn routine keeps them happy and healthy.
