Quail Chicks 🪶🐦‍⬛

Finally the chicks have hatched!

1. Here are our best tips for a good start🐣

• Use heat lamp or
• heat plate, we only use heat plate as we find this works much better for quails which are very sensitive to temperature differences in the beginning.
• Give protein-rich starter feed (we use breeder pellets from first to last day (crush it the first week)
• Make sure to provide shallow water – feel free to add stones to the bowl (yes, it's actually possible to drown in the water dispenser 😣😳)
• Keep bedding clean and dry (we use old towels, if you want to use paper, don't use slick advertisement paper, use newspaper.
• Let them rest and have minimal stress the first days, but if you want tame quails they need to be handled a lot from when they're small.
• Monitor their behavior:
• Are they huddling → too cold
• Are they spreading far from the heat → too warm
• Are they going in and out eating and drinking - everything is fine 👍🌼
