At Den Lille Hagen – Fjære, we don't just have chickens, ducks, quails, bees, plants and seasonal produce. We also have two small horses that are an important part of life here with us.
The white one is a Shetland pony, a small, sturdy and charming pony with lots of personality. Shetland ponies are known for being strong, tough and well-adapted to Nordic climates. Although they are small, they often have great determination and a clear mind of their own.
The brown one is an Icelandic horse, a hardy and steady horse breed that also does well outdoors. Icelandic horses are known for being calm, strong and adaptable, and they fit well into a small-scale farm and garden life like ours.
Our horses spend much time outdoors and have access to fresh air, hay and natural surroundings. They stay in the area around the garden, forest edge and pasture, and help give the place the cozy and lively feeling we want Den Lille Hagen to have.
The horses are not part of our sales, but they are an important part of everyday life here. They contribute to the environment, the atmosphere and the life on this place – along with the chickens, ducks, quails, bees and everything else that happens throughout the season.
For us, Den Lille Hagen is about more than just products. It's about animals, nature, small-scale farming and the joy of using what we have around us.
