Our bees live on the edge of the forest, surrounded by flowers, herbs and wild nature.
In the surrounding area you'll find apple trees, cherry trees and morello cherries, large areas of blueberries and many different wildflowers throughout the season. This gives the bees a varied area to gather nectar from – and gives our honey its local character.
We harvest our honey in a simple and artisanal way.
The honeycomb is gently crushed, and the honey is allowed to run out before it is strained and hand-stirred. This method suits our small-scale production well and allows us to care for the precious beeswax at the same time.
After straining, the honey is hand-stirred and stored in stainless steel bowls before being poured into clean jars.
We also measure the water content before bottling as part of our quality control. 🍯
The beeswax left over from honey harvesting is not thrown away.
The wax is cleaned and reused for things like beeswax candles and other small projects. We like the idea that as much as possible of what the bees produce should be put to good use – both the honey and the wax. 🐝
We want to use as little plastic packaging as possible and therefore choose glass for our honey.
At the same time, we try to make the best use of the materials from the hives.
For us it's about small-scale production, good craftsmanship and a short journey from hive to jar – with care for the bees and what they give us.
